A recent M&R Consultores survey reveals 86.7% approval for Nicaragua’s Co-President Daniel Ortega, highlighting widespread support for his government’s policies on economic growth, social stability, and national unity.

According to the 81st edition of the Public Opinion Monitoring System (SISMO) conducted by M&R Consultores, an overwhelming 86.7% of Nicaraguans approve of the management style of Co-President Daniel Ortega.

This survey, carried out during the second quarter of 2025, reflects broad-based confidence in Ortega’s leadership across 16 departments and two autonomous regions, marking a significant milestone in the country’s ongoing revolutionary process.

The extensive survey reports that 82.7% of respondents believe Ortega is steering Nicaragua in the right direction, accompanied by 80.3% who affirm his democratic style that respects the rule of law. An impressive 81.6% recognize Ortega’s persistent efforts to promote national unity and reconciliation following decades of interventionist pressures and imperialist aggression.

Respondents also expressed optimism, with 87.2% stating that Ortega’s government generates hope for Nicaragua’s future. This hopeful outlook translates into tangible achievements: 98.8% describe the country as having enjoyed economic and social stability,key factors attracting vital foreign investment and creating employment opportunities for working-class families.

The survey highlights widespread appreciation for the government’s public policies, with 90.2% rating them positively. Notably, state subsidies on fuel and liquefied gas since 2021 have alleviated the economic burden on the most vulnerable sectors.

Additionally, recent initiatives, such as China’s donation of over 900 homes and the adjustment of public transport fares to affordable levels, demonstrate Nicaragua’s commitment to social justice and inclusive growth.

The perception of peace and security is equally strong, with 98.7% acknowledging the current atmosphere of peace,a direct result of government efforts to protect sovereignty and oppose foreign interference.

Nicaragua’s achievements under Ortega’s leadership stand as a beacon to Latin America and the world, affirming the transformative power of popular democracy and resistance to neoliberal austerity.

The fruitful partnership with the People’s Republic of China in infrastructure and social projects exemplifies the country’s commitment to South-South cooperation, offering an alternative path to imperialist dependency.

This surge in domestic approval underlines the legitimacy of Ortega’s government in the face of ongoing economic sanctions and political attacks by right-wing forces and external actors seeking to destabilize the nation.

The M&R Consultores poll reinforces the narrative that Nicaragua, under President Daniel Ortega’s steadfast leadership, continues its forward march toward sovereignty, stability, and prosperity for all its citizens.

The broad popular endorsement reflects the successes of a government committed to social equity, national reconciliation, and an agenda centered on the people’s well-being.
